East RNLI invites all to attend
Christmas Tree of Remembrance ceremony
East RNLI lifeboat crew and fundraising branch will erect a special
Christmas Tree of Remembrance outside the Waterford lifeboat station
to honour those no longer here. The tree will remain there throughout
the festive season and will be decorated with ribbons which will
have specially written messages on them.
Novem ber 2017
ceremony will be held on Sunday 10 December at 7pm where the Tree
of Remembrance will be blessed, and the lights will be turned on,
followed by a carol service. People are being urged to join the
crew and raise a glass of mulled wine to remember loved ones.
on the event Dunmore East RNLI lifeboat crewmember Neville Murphy
said, As lifeboat crew, we are all too often faced with tragedy
while endeavouring to bring those in peril at sea, home safe to
their loved ones. The lifeboat in Dunmore East is at the heart of
the community, so what better way to bring people together to remember
those who are not with us this Christmas than to join together and
unveil this symbol of joy.
Ribbons will be available to purchase locally for €2 each.
They are currently available at the lifeboat station in Dunmore
East and also on the night itself, a message can be written on the
ribbon and then placed on the tree by one of the lifeboat crew.
Funds raised through the sale of the ribbons will be going to the
RNLI and their work in saving lives at sea.
Dunmore East RNLI lifeboat urged people to join them and bring family
and friends to remember those who are not here this Christmas, while
also supporting the RNLI.
