UK Gets More Intransigent About Brexit

The UK are being extremely intransigent in the negotiations with the EU about Brexit as they increased opposition to linking a fisheries agreement about access to their waters with trade deal between Britain and the EU.

Killybegs Fishermen’s Organisation Chief Executive, Sean O’Donoghue, told the Marine Times this week that this has become very clear.

The EU will not deviate from the mandate given to its negotiating team led by Michael Barnier that fisheries is directly linked to trade access, Mr.O’Donoghue said.

“It is clear that there will not be an agreement without the fisheries being sorted out. It is crucial that we maintain what we have now in access to UK waters and vice versa for the UK fleet in our waters.

“There will not be an overall trade deal without that.”
