Golden Wellie Award for Belmullet & Ballyglass
The winner was announced for the Golden Wellie award in the category of “Best community partnership fundraiser category” at th RNLI HQ in Poole. Belmullet Tidal Pool Shore Road Swimmers and Ballyglass RNLI Crew were the chosen winners.
This is an absolutely amazing honour for all involved. It shows that the close community bond in Erris has been awarded for the efforts of some amazing people in their community.

"There will be no big after party or parade through the place. But there will be an extra bit of pride in all of us as we congratulate both groups on winning the award.
"Huge thanks to Brian Wilson area manager for the RNLI who nominated the groups for the award. They were shortlisted down to the best 3 and our teams won the award.
"We have always know the partnership in our community was award winning, but now they have an award. Comhgairdeachas ó chroí do gach duine a ghlac páirt ann.
"Thanks to Liz and Michelle and to all the swimmers who braved the cold chopy water to swim a mayday mile.
"We here at Ballyglass RNLI could not be more proud of our friends and comrades and our Community. The Spirit of Erris has been recognised at the top level of the RNLI and we are delighted.
